PARIS (Reuters) – Colette Maze says she began playing the piano when she was four years old to find in music the warmth absent in her strict upbringing.
Today, at the age of 106, her playing still exudes great tenderness and sitting at the piano – one of four in her Paris apartment – her agile fingers seem to barely touch the keys as she sways to the sounds of Schumann, Debussy and Chopin.
Colette Maze was born in 1914 into a middle class family. She was homeschooled by her mother, who was quite strict. Her father managed a fertiliser plant.

Paris: A 106-year-old woman named Colette Maze just proved to the world that age is, most definitely, just a number and nothing else. Hailing from France, she is all set to release a sixth album embellished with her mesmerizing work on the piano.
Born into a middle-class family in 1914, Maze s family was extremely strict. She was homeschooled by her mother while her father managed a fertilizer plant. It was only when she went to college in Paris and worked as an accompanist in music schools around the French capital.
