In considering changes in the dominance of any particular country, it is necessary to take into account its economic, technological and military power.
There is little doubt that since 1945 the USA has been and remains the global power, but in one aspect - technology - China is moving forward at a great pace and after decades of copying and emulating the technology of the hegemon (at times making limited additions and enhancements), it is finally approaching a situation where it is likely to overtake the USA in several respects.
