In his first public comments since being arrested early Wednesday in Redmond, Washington, Richard Sherman said he is deeply remorseful for his actions. I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted, he wrote Friday in a statement posted on social media. The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real and I vow to get the help I need.
Sherman, 33, pleaded not guilty Friday to five charges following an incident at his in-law s home in Redmond, a suburb of Seattle: misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes of second degree criminal trespass and third degree malicious mischief (with domestic violence designations), DUI, reckless endangerment of roadway workers (added Friday) and resisting arrest.
