A Manitoba elementary school has scrapped a plan to move away from Mother’s Day and Father’s Day traditions after receiving ‘feedback’ on the change from its community.

The competition, which attracted more than 1,000 participants in 2020, was held in person last year but with restrictions making that impossible in 2021, the difficult decision was made to cancel this year’s event.
Well, it was. That was until several teachers reached out to EGM looking for an alternative. One was found: a pivot to a virtual, school-friendly format run by four professional engineers who volunteered their time to test the spaghetti trusses made by students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 raising $10,000 in the process.
