This comes after NSE sought longer trading hours for the derivatives or F&O segment, as it believes this will help traders and investors bet on global and domestic developments more efficiently
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has sent a proposal to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to have an evening session to trade in index futures and options, an NSE official told Reuters.
"While large investors who need depth and tight spreads could wait for the regular session, those looking to react early to global news flow could be interested, despite the risk of potentially lower volumes. Further, we have so far taken credit for the strength of our macros, which has helped our indices less troubled by global market volatility," James said.
