Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over parts of southern Luzon within the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of a low pressure area (LPA), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Aug. 27.

MANILA - The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, the weather bureau said Friday. Flash floods or landslides are likely due to moderate to at times heavy rains, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. "Fair weather will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Isolated rain showers are likely in the afternoon or evening," PAGASA forecaster Ezra Bulquerin said. For the next three days, fair weather with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are also expected, he said. MANILA - The southwest monsoon or "habagat" may still affect most parts of the country particularly western sections of southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday. In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said Mimaropa and Bicol regions and the provinces of Quezon and Batangas in Luzon; Visayas; and Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions in Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. It warned residents of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
