What We Learned from the Spurs loss to the Heat

What We Learned from the Spurs loss to the Heat Share this story Rhona Wise-USA TODAY Sports This loss made a lot of sense to me. I don’t know exactly why, but I felt like I had this one penciled in for a defeat basically from the moment the clock struck zero in Washington on Monday. Maybe it’s just been so long since the Spurs won more than three games in a row that I’ve come to expect the letdown. Maybe it just comes with the territory of pulling out two consecutive close wins. Maybe I’m just bummed about Derrick White. Whatever the case may be, this loss was certainly a disappointment but at least it wasn’t a surprise.

How might the 49ers make Jimmy Garoppolo fight for his job next season?

How might the 49ers make Jimmy Garoppolo fight for his job next season? FacebookTwitterEmail Don’t get too comfortable, Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers probably won’t jettison their starting quarterback with a trade or a release this offseason, but they figure to provide Garoppolo with something he hasn’t faced in his tenure with the team: competition. General manager John Lynch said this week he had no doubt the injury-plagued Garoppolo, if healthy, would remain with the 49ers in 2021 on the “The Eye Test for Two” podcast. And Lynch also said the 49ers needed to have “better options” backing up Garoppolo so the 49ers can “win games” in case he suffers another significant injury next season.

Five Potential San Francisco 49ers Free Agents, Version 2 0 - Sports Illustrated San Francisco 49ers News, Analysis and More

Feb 26, 2021 During an interview on Wednesday with Clark Judge and Ira Kaufman on The Eye Test for Two podcast, 49ers General Manager John Lynch was asked: “If he is injury-free, is there any doubt in your mind that Jimmy Garoppolo is your quarterback when you line up in September?” Lynch did not hesitate with a response: “No. Not at all. I really believe that.” That response is very similar to the one that Lynch gave when the question was raised during the 49ers end of season press conference back in January. This begs the question: Does keeping Garoppolo make sense for the 49ers?
