A DISTRICT eye hospital has increased its number of cataract operations by 155 per cent year on year. Optegra Eye Hospital Yorkshire, based in Apperley Bridge, continues its support of NHS England – and including three Yorkshire NHS trusts – to vastly increase its essential eye surgery for people. Comparing the volume of NHS cataract operations performed within Optegra Eye Hospital Yorkshire, year on year, shows a 155 per cent increase from 2020 to 2021. Mat Pickering, regional director for Optegra Yorkshire, said: “We are incredibly proud to be working with three local NHS trusts to provide cataract and retinal treatment, especially at a time when there is such unprecedented pressure on the NHS across the whole country.
