RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Federal Police located over 43,000 logs along the Mamuru and Arapiuns Rivers between the states of Pará and Amazonas. This seizure was the largest in Brazil s history, according to the Federal Police. The report was released on Monday, December 21st. No one was arrested.
The earlier seizure record also occurred in Pará. According to the coordinators of the Arco de Fogo operation, 64,500 cubic meters of wood were seized in 2010 in the Extractive Reserve (Resex) Renascer, in the state s northeast.
