Sault Ste. Marie’s property standards bylaw is getting an upgrade.
City council approved an amendment to the property standards bylaw Monday that will provide bylaw officers with additional tools to ensure vacant property do not pose a public safety hazard or nuisance to the community.

The change is a result of recommendations struck by a task force that convened in July of 2020 to review property standards within the city.
Council was told that one of the task force’s objectives was to “seek effective means of achieving compliance of the standards set out in the bylaw.”
