M Paramasivam, attached to the Pennalurpet police station near Uthukottai, went to the Tidir Nagar village Monday after a teacher informed him that 11 students from the area had not been coming to local government school for a long time and not attending examinations.
The students decided to return to hostels to prepare for exams after State Commission for Women A S Kumari who visited the campus today promised them that the government would probe the issue in a fair manner.
