My grandmother was an unrepentant clotheshorse. No stranger to the thrilling sensation of showing off a new cop, she reveled in cheffing up A1 fits and in complimenting her grandchildren on theirs. Whenever I’d show up at her house for a surprise visit in some freshly unwrapped purchase, she’d say the same thing: “Wear it and tear it.” Whatever new item I bought (or, in true grandmotherly fashion, she’d given to me) wasn’t meant to sit on a shelf. It was meant to be used. Loved. Worn until it was quite literally worn out.
In a city chock full of certified Big Drippers, Theroux is one of the most consistent there is, rarely straying far from the tried-and-true elements of his immediately identifiable uniform. Here he sticks to his typical monochromatic palette, but adds in a few key hits of green to keep things interesting. And interested I am! In stacked skinny jeans that d look passé on just about anyone else and a sturdy pair of shit-kicking boots (along with a teeny tiny beanie, worn just they way it should be), Theroux looks unmistakably himself, but somehow better than he has in ages.
Most of that glow-up has to do with the collarless snap-front coat gently cocooning around approximately two-thirds of his frame, done up in a mossy shade of green so good I ve been on the hunt for a similar-looking one since I first spotted it. (Bonus points for kitting out Kuma in an equally handsome matching style that d put any menswear dog look to shame.)
