advances or knew about it from other employees. and you know, there was a rank of allegations that we heard. i mean, i think one of the main things we heard involved a lot of the reporting we had centered around the salon and the spa at the wynn in las vegas. and you know, there was a range of things we heard. i think one of the things was that mr. wynn often wore very short shorts in the salon when he would get pedicures. and exposed himself to the employees there. in other cases, he would often have services performed in his private office, massages or manicures, and many of the women there said they were deeply uncomfortable with comments that he made and that he would make advances toward them as far as trying to kiss them, in one case, you know, in one case actually in the salon, one of
that the people who were accusing wynn really just still were so intimidated by his massive stature, huge wealth and influence, that they felt like they couldn t come forward. jeff bennett, i was talking with virginia henernan about the deafening silence from the republican national committee. this story hit yesterday, and we were looking for, expect something response from the rnc in light of the fact that steve wynn is the rnc finance chairman. so far as we know, again, politico reporting he s not, nbc news has not confirmed that reporti reporting. tell us about the relationship between the white house and the political fund-raising arm there was the rnc. reporter: interestingly, in an election year, the political committees really work at the behest of the president as a re-elect apparatus for whoever that president is. it s not just the rrcnc. the dnc works the same way. we saw during the election because president trump had a bare-bones campaign staff, he leaned fairly heavily
apart from the money, it s putting people in the room together and making introductions. he s been really involved in that. he was involved also at the conventions. and he s also been really helpful to president trump, aside from his personal friendship, he s helped navigate personal waters. matt bradley is in los angeles. he was in las vegas reporting on the story. and matt, i want to get a sense from you, we know wynn as the magnate of all of the casinos in las vegas. tell us a bit about the role that he plays and we certainly saw the share price of wynn yesterday sink by about 10% in light of the news that was first reported by the wall street journal. this is having a seismic effect on las vegas. reporter: that s right, wynn s own fortune has diminished by $250 million because of the 10% drop in the share price. now wynn was a major, major figure in las vegas. he was obviously a casino mogul.
that denying all of the allegations i think you mentioned this earlier they called the claims preposterous and went on to say that there was an anonymous tip line available within the wynn resort s company, the sort of the corporation. and that there had never been in these, you know, 30 years of allegations described in the wall street journal article, there had never been an anonymous tip against mr. wynn. made in the hotline that was made available to all of the employees. of course, we in the wall street journal reporting, they were saying that these employees did not use this hotline. they were just way too intimidated to use it. and they said in their statement that wynn resorts had provided sexual harassment training which we re starting to see more and more from companies. they issued these statements saying exonerating the company, exonerating wynn. and from there on out, it looks as if despite all of these things that were put in place,
manicurists who made the explosive claim that was the headline in the wall street journal story that broke yesterday morning. but they spoke with 150 of his employees throughout his hotel empire in las vegas. and there were dozens of claims of sexual misconduct. that s very serious. and it goes to show that mr. wynn, his actual investments, not just his reputation, were hit. let me ask you a bit about that. jeff bennett a moment ago reading a statement from steve wynn which he issued personally about the reporting there in the wall street journal. what has this company said when you look at a guy who s an older guy, founded the company, running it for some time here, what s the company saying about the role he plays here in the day-to-day operations of wynn? as you mention, looks to expand overseas into machao and other parts of asia? reporter: the company issued a statement that was firm saying
