good evening, everybody. andrew davis out here in hampton county right now with a story that really everybody is talking about. we now know officially that alex murdaugh was shot. alex murdaugh was changing a tire on the side of the road in rural hampton county saturday when a car passed him, turned around, and someone shot him in the head. this is when you wonder if they just started making things up or it was a soap opera somewhere. it seems like it s a tv show more than it seemed like real life, because in this case, how does this get more unusual? and then was it the same person that shot maggie and paul or what may happen as you spin through your mind? murdaugh called the 11 shortly after 1:30 in the afternoon to report he d been shot. he was airlifted to a hospital in savannah for treatment. there was an entry and exit wound. murdaugh s skull was fractured and there was minor brain bleeding as well. when i first got that call, i was fearing for the worst, like, oh, my
paul, first blast to the chest. arms down. not fatal for a buckshot blast to the chest. this is where there was some dispute from the defense experts. the second injury went in to the left shoulder and in to the cheek with an exit wound on top of the head. instantly fatal and terminal collapse. dr. reamer has down 5,500 autopsy. she actually physically examined the victim and she was very clear that it could not have happened from the top without destroying paul s face. i can show the image again. i m reluctant to because i know you ve seen it enough. so i ll allow you to recall that

a shotgun would have caused so much gas to enter into his head that the damage to paul murdaugh would have been so much more severe. you are seeing a back and forth on whether or not there was a contact wound on paul murdaugh s head or if it was, in fact, an exit wound. there has been contentious moment as the pathologist tries to defender work and testimony. what do you make of the fact that murdaugh s team got this victory by going out and visit the crime scene. what does that tell you? that s huge. in addition to the battle of the experts, there s also going to be a contention that murdaugh could not have done this with the feed room being so tiny where paul murdaugh s murder took place, there would have to be blood spatter or brain matter
pathologist to create questions about some of her findings including determination of angles of shots and whether or not one of the shots was an entrance and exit wound. they have been going back and forth 15 minutes agreeing to disagree on findings. this is part of what the defense continued to do during its case presentation to poke holes and create doubt around the state s narrative they have created what happened june 7th, 2021. court has been lack of a better word spicier with the attorneys. before the jury even came in, defense really protested on the length of time this trial has taken. we are talking about what was supposed to be a three-week trial we are in week six. state is calling seven rebuttal witnesses. this was the exchange between the attorneys before the jury
