Highland teenager learns to cope with arthritis through art therapy

Something went wrong - please try again later. Sign Up A Sutherland teenager has learned to cope with the debilitating effects of arthritis through embracing her creative side. Zoe MacBeath from Dornoch was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), a condition which causes persistent joint pain, swelling and stiffness, as well as other complications such as eye inflammation. To help her come to terms with her condition, the 13-year-old was referred to mental health charity the Teapot Trust’s art therapist Nicola Kennell.

Sign Up A Caithness mother has praised the efforts of a mental health charity for helping her cope with the anxiety surrounding her daughter’s cancer battle. Nine year-old Imogen Gunn was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, cancer of the soft palette, in May 2019. For seven months, the youngster received intense chemotherapy treatment in Aberdeen along with six weeks in Manchester.
