Good evening and welcome to Joe Scarborough presents. As we move closer to the primaries, donald trump remains the dominant frontrunner, according to the Morning Consult tracker. He is nearly 40 points ahead of his closest rival, Florida Governor ron desantis. And there is real apprehension about what a second trump term might look like. This morning, the New York Times published a frightening article that gives us the best look at how far donald trump may go with his obsession with authoritarians and personal political loyalty. According to the times, trump and his enablers plan to, quote, alter the Balance Of Power by increasing the president s authority over every part of the federal government. If trump wins, they plan on stacking the government with trump loyalists, regardless of their personal or professional limitations. Its going to look a lot more like 2019 than 2017. They will bring independent agencies like the fcc and the ftc, quote, under direct president ial control. The
are going to impeach you, and it s happening very, very soon. on this vote the yeas are 214 and the nays are 216. the resolution is not adopted. you know, i have to say the season took an unexpected turn last night. willie, one of the more surprising but really good introductions to the season, who knew mike johnson would star as a happless speaker of the house who couldn t even get an impeachment through. all we re missing is the slow push in on his face. that was truly we have four hours, luckily, today to go through one of the most humiliating days in the house of representatives. they couldn t pass their own impeachment of mayorkas, couldn t get through an israel bill. they did find time to pass a resolution that says donald trump did not commit an insurrection around january 6th. want to make sure they protect him on that. they re getting ready to have a vote today, a procedural vote to turn away the senate immigration bill they ve been asking for for two gene

thank you for joining us this evening. it took nearly a month to get it, but we finally have it. the d.c. circuit court of appeals has ruled on presidential immunity. donald trump s last best attempt to evade a criminal trial for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. in his unanimous ruling written by all three federal appeals court judges overseeing this case two biden appointees and one appointee of president george h.w. bush. those judges spell it out in no uncertain terms a former president cannot be prosecuted is worthless. quoting from the ruling, it would be a striking paradox if the president alone is vested with the constitutional duty to take care the laws be faithfully executed where the sole officer capable of defying those laws with impunity. we cannot accept former president trump s claim that a president has unbounded authority to commit crimes that would neutralize the most fundamental check on executive power in recognition and implementation of electio
