Metal Stars Alien Weaponry Set To Explode With The NZSO In May

Aotearoa’s Alien Weaponry, hailed as one of the most exciting young metal bands in the world, unite with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for two special performances in May. Stronger Together in Kirikiriroa Hamilton and ŌtautahiChristchurch will be a unique music experience for audiences, the NZSO and Alien Weaponry. The concerts are Alien Weaponry’s first with an orchestra and the first collaboration with a metal band in the NZSO’s 75-year history. Embraced by audiences and critics around the world, the three-piece from Waipu have gone from strength to strength since their debut album Tū in 2018.

NZSO Postpones Six Concerts Due To Covid-19 Restrictions

Monday, 1 March 2021, 9:42 am The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Te Tira Pūoro o Aotearoa has postponed the first leg of its South Island tour 4-7 March due to the change in Covid-19 alert levels. The public concerts postponed are The Soldier’s Tale in Wanaka (4 March), Dunedin (5 March), Oamaru (6 March), Ashburton (7 March) and Town and Country in Invercargill (4 March) and Dunedin (6 March). Schools concerts of Peter and the Wolf in Invercargill (4 March) and Dunedin (5 March) and a Relaxed Concert in Dunedin are also postponed. Another event cancelled in the South Island as Alert Level Two bites the events sector 1 March 2021 The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra s postponed nine of its upcoming performances. Chief Executive Peter Biggs says the health of audience members and performers is his top priority. It s the latest in a string of events to be cancelled or delayed with the earthquake memorial concert, Wings Over Wairarapa, and the Golden Shears all falling victim to Covid restrictions. NZSO concerts planned for late next week in Christchurch, Blenheim and Nelson are still going ahead.
