Retailers closed a brutal 2020 with a glimmer of hope as the holiday shopping season turned out better than expected.
Sales in November and December jumped 8.3 per cent from a year prior, the National Retail Federation said Friday. Thatâs far above the groupâs prior forecast for a gain of 3.6 per cent to 5.2 per cent.

Shoppers kept spending even in the face of ârising transmission of the virus, state restrictions on retailers and heightened political and economic uncertainty.â
