they began their protests last week calling only for food prices to come down. that was then escalated to political change. king abdullah fired the entire cabinet. the problem is that the new prime minister is actually an old prime minister. he was prime minister a few years ago, and he was accused of helping steal the election at that time. he s an ex-general. a former ambassador to israel and turkey, a friend of the united states. and the people here are afraid that he will be just more of the same. the issue, though, is that the people for the most part do support king abdullah. there s no attempt to overthrow the king. they want real change, politically, but as you can see, less than 100 demonstrators. this is not a violent situation. very unlikely that jordan will follow the violent path of egypt. and nbc s martin fletcher just back from that protest. and author of walking israel, live for us in amen is, jordan.
