A WEST End star from Shiplake has released a charity single in honour of a little girl with a rare illness.
Mike Sterling was touched by the story of Evie Hodgson, from Whitby in North Yorkshire, who was diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia in May.
The condition, where the bone marrow does not produce enough new blood cells, affects about 30 to 40 children every year.
Evie, eight, needs to have a bone marrow transplant and a donor who is a near perfect match has come forward so she can have the operation next year.
Evie and her mother Tina, 37, appeared on ITV s This Morning, which turned their home in Whitby, North Yorkshire, into a scene from The Chronicles Of Narnia.
The schoolgirl was due to have her transplant in September before she, Tina and dad Andy, 49, were forced to launch the Evie Needs a Hero campaign.
She will now have her operation at Great North Children s Hospital, Newcastle, on January 14.
Tina, who also has William, six, said: We got the call while Evie was in hospital being treated for an infection. Evie just turned to me and said, Mummy, you re my hero . This means the world to us as a family and to Evie. This will save her life.
