impeachment inquiries before, they want to vote on the house the one they don t care about that. it s about getting trump. as far as i see it, aoc is as close to a thought leader in today s democrat party. what she thinks now will be the position maybe not today but to go weeks or one month or two months. is that accurate? not only accurate, but when you saw on stage and the democratic debate, as you said there are people who are totally against capitalism, they are going to take out all businesses, and that s what really aoc, her new green deal, that s what it s all about. don t forget, bernie sanders and others were cosponsors of the green new deal. laura: that s the thought leader. again, trump is taking the mass off a lot of people and a lot of people are being revealed. that s healthy. we know where everybody stands. they are ripping the country in half to appease a radical. laura: it s about winning at all costs.
all mcconnell has to do is take the vote and let the country see where everybody stands. you know, 94% of americans support background checks. in ohio, 87% of people who own guns support background checks. this is something we ve never seen i don t think in a long time seen such universal acceptance for yet the folks in washington can t get action on it. i think that s what makes people so frustrated with government in general. when everybody agrees why does it have to be so hard? somehow in mcconnell in washington, d.c. that s what they specialize in. you had 25,000 people at a benefit concert over the weekend. the people of ohio are speaking loud and clear. yes, i mean, i ve been amazed by the outpouring of support from not only our community but communities across the state.
democratic party is right now on several issues, whether it was health care or climate change. the progressives, bernie sanders and elizabeth warren, made clear that their proposals are the proposals despite the criticism and attacks from folks inside their own party that can work. take a listen to how elizabeth warren framed health care. we can create a universal health care system to give everyone basic health care for free, and i have a proposal to do it. but we don t have to go around and be the party of subtraction and telling half the country who has private health insurance that their health insurance is illegal. let s be clear about this. we are the democrats. we are not about trying to take away health care from anyone. that s what the republicans are trying to do. and guys, i think it s important to note the importance of last night actually laying out for viewers, for voters, for primary voters particularly where everybody stands is invaluable at this point in time bec
holding a 19 point lead over the senator. biden is down three points within the margin of error. sanders is up five points. according to the poll, new york city mayor bill de blasio leads in the unfavorability rating. 35% of voters say they have an unfavorable opinion of the mayor. 14% in the poll say they like him, susan. there s another poll that shows 8% favorability. wait until they get to know him. it ll go down. oh, that s cold. where everybody stands, elizabeth warren seems to be climbing, as well. what do you see? i see good news for the folks lower down, fifth to eighth place. mayor pete buttigieg took a hit in the poll. they re probably saying maybe his star is fading just a little bit and there s room for them to grow. mike, what are you seeing? i see us doing a story a year from now, pointing out this poll and saying, wow, can you believe
if that happens and they don t come expect coalition of ten to 15 bipartisan senators we are told to take the floor and how to end the shutdown. here is the daily briefing. dana: the senate just minutes away of voting on a pair of competing bills to open the government. the chances of succeeding, good. hello, everyone, dana perino and this is the daily briefing. the proposal for mitch mcconnell and republicans include funding for president trump s border wall. the bill from chuck schumer and democrats does not. all this making unlikely that either one can reach 60 votes. the government shutdown now on day 34. chief congressional correspondent live on capitol hill, mike, an hour where we learn where everybody stands.
