LAKE TWP. – Plastics trays, some containing broccoli and others with zucchini, cover the counter in the kitchen at Evermore Community Church.
At a preparation table, chef Daniel Anschutz assembles slices of eggplant, tomato and mozzarella into servings of eggplant Napoleon. It s one of the meals that will go to families helped by Compassion Delivered, a nonprofit started by Daniel and his wife Amanda in 2017.
In just over four years, the Anschutzes and a contingency of volunteers have prepared 10,000 meals for Stark County residents dealing with chronic, life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
During that stretch Compassion Delivered has helped more than 180 families. An average of 25 to 30 clients are getting free meals each week.
