She’s officially announced her intention to run for the seat in this year’s election, becoming the first to do so for any position around the horseshoe. Murphy was first elected in 2017 after losing in the 2015 byelection to former Councillor Colleen Tatum. She tells Mix News she believes the first step the new council must undertake is helping build back the economy and it starts with leadership focused on building on the current relationship with industry. “We’re really in a great place as far as recovery. Seeing how we can help industry become more competitive in the next few years… that puts us in a really great place.”

Fort McMurray Drops Under 30 Active COVID-19 Cases, Province Expanding Current Eligibility For Vaccine

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Thursday 331 new cases across Alberta. There are currently 4,613 active cases across Alberta, while there have been a total of 134,785 positive tests. There are also 245 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 47 of which are in ICUs. Locally, Fort McMurray didn’t add any new cases, while there were four additional recoveries which lowers the active total to 29. The rural areas added one new case in the past 24 hours, raising the total of active cases to six.

RMWB Closing Off Sections of Roads And Trails Preparing For River Breakup

Starting on March 8, you won’t be able to travel along Clearwater Drive from Father Mercredi Street to Franklin Avenue. Parts of Main Street, Hardin Street, Riedel Street, Hospital Street, Queen Street, and Marshall Street near the Clearwater River are also being closed off. A portion of Fontaine Crescent in Longboat Landing, a section of Parkview Drive in Ptarmigan Court, and part of the Highway 63 East Service Road in Taiga Nova Eco-Industrial Park are also being temporarily blocked off.
