MONROE - Police are praising a hiker who spotted a distressed woman deep in the woods Monday who had been missing for two days.
The missing woman, Evelyn Zavala, who was reported missing Saturday night after last being seen in the area of the 7-Eleven in Jamesburg, suffered injuries to her feet and was carried out of the woods by members of the Monroe police and fire departments, police said.
Police declined to release the hometown of Zavala or the woman who found her.
According to police around 3:51 p.m. Monday, police received a call from Emma Bodmer who was hiking the trails in Thompson Park who reported that she came across a woman in distress deep in the woods.
MONROE (Middlesex) A woman spent two nights lost in the woods before she was rescued Monday.
The woman was reported missing on Saturday and was found by a hiker deep in the woods of Thompson Park.
Evelyn Zavala, 38, was last seen Saturday night at a 7-Eleven store in Jamesburg, which is located across the street from the park.
While on the park s trails on Monday, police said hiker Emma Bodmer came across a woman in distress deep in the woods of the 616-acre county.
Police said Zavala suffered injuries to her feet and was carried out of the woods by township police and firefighters.
