“Indian lady we are proud of her!” Mohammed Nadiadwala cheered outside the Keemat Grocers along Hillcroft.
In the Mahatma Ghandi District on the southwest side of Houston, some Houstonians celebrated the inauguration of VP Kamala Harris.
“I was very proud of her. Now she will do all good this for this country,” Nadiadwala said.
“A lot of people looking for her in the Jamaican community and the Indian community, I wish her all the best,” added Houstonian, Mary Shawn.
Business owner, Huma Moghul, watched her TV closely Wednesday morning.

Photo courtesy of the JCC One of Houston’s most cherished and beloved cultural centers has announced a highly anticipated milestone event. The renovated and expanded Velva G and H. Fred Levine Jewish Federation Building at the
Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center will break ground on January 31, 2021, per a press release. As CultureMap previously reported, the center known affectionately as the “the J” is in the midst of a pivotal $50 million fundraising campaign. Thus far, the campaign has raised $42.5 million since the announcement in February.
