OKLAHOMA CITY -
A jury finds a former Oklahoma police officer guilty of killing his 94-year-old neighbor, Evelyn Goodall in 2013.
During the course of the trial prosecutors relied heavily on DNA evidence.
After listening to a week s worth of testimony and three hours of deliberation jurors reached their verdict.
According to prosecutors, in 2013 Robert Hashagen broke into Goodall s home. Startled by her presence, investigators said Hashagen savagely attacked the elderly woman, then taped her up.
“Eventually we were able to get certain people to talk to us about a person who lived in the neighborhood, stayed up late at night, used narcotics,” said the investigator.

Only the defense commented after the verdict was read in court. Hashagen’s attorney said they were disappointed but respected the jury’s decision.
News 9’s camera was allowed in the courtroom when the jury came back after three hours of deliberations. Hashagan did not have a reaction to the guilty verdict but his family was visibly upset.
The trial was seven days of testimony from 30 witnesses. Prosecutors brought in DNA evidence that linked Hashagen to the crime scene. His DNA was found in two places in his elderly neighbor’s home.

OKLAHOMA CITY -
Oklahoma County prosecutors linked a murder suspect s DNA to two crime scenes. Robert Hashagan is currently on trial for first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege he killed his neighbor, 94-year-old Evelyn Goodall in 2013.
Hashagen’s attorney Clay Curtis said on Thursday his client had no involvement in the assault and killing of his neighbor.
Thursday marked the third day for jurors to listen to witness testimony. They heard from Oklahoma City police and OSBI DNA analysts.
Both agencies tested evidence taken from Goodall s home when she was burglarized and assaulted in 2010 and in 2013.
Hashagen is only charged for the 2013 assault that killed the elderly woman.

OKLAHOMA CITY -
Oklahoma County prosecutors have called more than a dozen witnesses in the cold case murder trial for Robert Hashagen. He was charged with the 2013 beating death of 94-year-old Evelyn Goodall in her northwest Oklahoma City home.
Several witnesses on Wednesday testified that they suspected Hashagen was involved in a burglary and attack on the elderly victim three years prior to the attack that took her life.
“She was very brave after being attacked the first time,” said Ellen Mercer, victim’s friend. “And just decided she would soldier on.”
Mercer was a long-time neighbor and friend to Goodall. Mercer testified in court on Wednesday that Goodall was like a mother to her. She fondly recalled their chats over coffee and Goodall’s love of nature.
