Thousands of Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers who suffered electricity outages during the triple-digit heat wave that roasted Sonora and other parts of the Mother Lode this past weekend
Powerful winds and hours of heavy rainfall drenched the Bay Area Saturday. Roadways were temporarily blocked by fallen trees in the North and South Bay, and power lines were knocked out too. At sundown, PG&E was working to restore power to 7200 Bay Area customers.
The rain is great news after such a dry year and in the North Bay, if the forecasted storms deliver as expected, it could mean the end of wildfire season.
Nearly 1,500 Bay Area customers were without power early Thursday morning following weather-related and other issues, officials with Pacific Gas & Electric.
