The North East SPCA is bringing back their 'Caged for Critters' fundraiser next week at the Harry and Eve Vickar Shelter.From June 14-18, mystery gues.
A memorial wall is the latest addition to the Harry and Eve Vickar shelter in Melfort.
According to Bill Wood with the North East SPCA, the wall was originally planned for the opening of the shelter in the fall of 2019.
“What we did was just kept track of all of our memorial donations and then we added them once the shelter was up and we found a good place for the wall,” Wood said.
The memorial wall is located on the west wall of the Shelter lobby and is ready for viewing.
“The names in the display are names of people who are remembered as animal lovers or pet lovers,” Wood said. “We also have names of dogs and loved pets on the board.”

It is National Volunteer week and northeastNOW is featuring community volunteers who go above and beyond all year round.
Melfort’s Pat Rumberger has spent countless hours as a volunteer in the region over the years and finds it difficult to narrow down everything she has given her time to.
“People who volunteer don’t do it for recognition but to improve life in their community for others and make it a place for people to want to live in,” Rumberger said.
In recent years, she focuses on volunteering for the North East SPCA, which she said is near and dear to her heart.
