For the second time in 18 months, leaders of Napaâs public school network have voted to close a campus in response to falling enrollment and funding.
Harvest Middle School on Old Sonoma Road in southwest Napa will shut its doors after the 2021-22 school year. The Napa Valley Unified School District board also will replace River Middle School in north Napa with an English-Spanish language immersion academy, which will begin operating at Riverâs Salvador Avenue campus for 2022-23 and carry on a dual-language curriculum similar to the one offered by Harvest.
NVUSDâs board approved the overhaul in a unanimous 7-0 vote that followed a wave of pleas by school parents not to go ahead with the shutdowns, which follow the districtâs closures of the Yountville and Mt. George elementary schools after the 2019-20 year.
