Evansville Water Sewer Utility customers can expect a major increase in their bill over the next 5 years after Utility Regulatory Commission approves hike.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. The Evansville Water Sewer Utility says it needs a new water treatment plant to replace a facility that s more than 120 years old, which means water customers may see larger bills in the future.
EWSU Executive Director Lane Young made the case for the new plant to the utility s board at a meeting Tuesday afternoon. He said the oldest building at the current plant, 1301 Waterworks Road, dates to the 1890s and the newest to the 1990s. It s becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement parts, which often have to be custom-made, he added. The reality is, we need a new heart, Young said. Some kind of stint here or another heart procedure is not enough.
