Welcome to the 26th Songs of the Week of 2023. Last week’s Songs of the Week was our first one after a month-long hiatus and there were a lot of strong choices (plus we put together a playlist of all the great songs we missed while on vacation). This week, the pickings weren’t as plentiful, but there were still some new tracks we liked.

Russia Responds to NATO Provocations in the Baltics by Militarily Bolstering Kaliningrad

The constant provocations by the US and NATO in the Baltic region have led to a Russian response – the strengthening of its military in the westernmost region of the Russian Federation, Kaliningrad. Following the deployment of the 5th Army Corps of the US Army in neighboring Poland, a new unit in Kaliningrad was established. Lithuania is responding to the strengthening of Kaliningrad by intensifying joint military exercises with allies near the borders of Russia.
PABRADE, Lithuania â U.S. troopers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and NATO allied partners 21st Dragoon Battalion, Lithuanian Land and Volunteer Forces, tested their might against one another in a culminating exercise Feb. 23 at the Kairai training area just off the Baltic Sea.
âI was impressed,â Cpl. Keaton Williamson, a tanker assigned to Bravo âEager Armsâ Company, said. âThese guys defend their land with their hearts.â
2nd. Bn., 8th Cav. Regt., transported an Abrams tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle Platoon to the training area for a three-week combined training exercise. Lithuanian and U.S. forces spent two-weeks sharing their battlefield tactics, techniques and unconventional warfare maneuvers.
