SIR – I’ve been asked to sign a petition to strip Paula Vennells, the former chief executive of the Post Office, of her CBE (report, January 6). What I fail to understand is why she was honoured in the first place. It must have been obvious that the Post Office’s handling of the Horizon scandal was grossly incompetent at the highest level. SIR – As a full-time NHS doctor for 34 years – of which 29 were spent as a partner in general practice – I had high levels of both job and patient satisfaction, along with good remuneration.
SIR – Your Leading Article (“Only bedrock reform can fix the NHS”, January 16) rightly concludes that the health service cannot survive in its current form.
