Milestones Highlight Prep Results [Scores Mon Mar 8]
It was a good night to celebrate stats ending in a series of zeroes. Blooming Prairie senior Megan Oswald grabbed her 1,000th career rebound in an overtime loss to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown. Owatonna junior Evan Dushek scored his 1,000th career point in a win at Northfield. OHS sophomore Ezra Oien collected her 100th career point in a hockey victory at Austin.
Oswald s milestone rebound came on her first rebound in what turned out to be an overtime thriller between the top two teams in the Gopher Conference. WEM prevailed 60-51 in overtime in a game that was tight throughout regulation with several ties down the stretch.

A clutch shot in the closing moments by junior Holly Buytaert gave the Owatonna girls basketball squad a 54-52 win over Albert Lea at the OHS gym. That result have the Huskies a sweep of varsity sports for Tuesday, February 16. See the game-winning bucket below, courtesy of OwatonnaLive.com.
The OHS girls host Mankato East Friday, February 19 at 7:30 pm with the game broadcast on AM 1390 KRFO, now simulcasting at 94.7FM as well.
The Huskies boys rolled past Albert Lea Tuesday 85-37. Brayden Williams scored 22. Payton Beyer added 16 and Evan Dushek scored 10. OHS led 44-11 at the half and forced nearly 30 turnovers in the game. Owatonna plays at Mankato East Thursday, February 18 with the game on Kat Kountry 105FM.
Defense, Depth Carry Huskies Again
With a strong defensive effort and depth necessitated by a variety of injuries and health issues affecting their lineup, the Owatonna High School boys basketball team gutted out another win Friday night. The Huskies (6-1) topped Red Wing 61-55 for their fifth straight win.
Brayden Williams led OHS with 22 points. Blake Burmeister scored 15. Regular starters Payton Beyer, Nolan Burmeister and Evan Dushek all came in off the bench. Huskies coach Josh Williams credited the Wingers defense for limiting the number of possessions in the game.

Huskies Sweep Falcons [Prep Roundup, Monday Feb. 1]
The Owatonna High School girls and boys basketball teams had to battle through lineup limitations but earned a sweep over Faribault in Big Nine basketball Monday, February 1. Sarah Kingland fouled out with five minutes remaining in a 61-51 victory at Nomeland Gymnasium in Faribault. The boys had a couple of starters limited due to injury but still beat the Falcons at OHS 69-43.
The Owatonna girls went on a 12-0 run in the first half after a hot start by Faribault from three-point range staked the Falcons to an 18-13 lead. After hitting five of their first seven three-point shots, Faribault was 3-for-17 for the rest of the game, according to AM 1390 KRFO stats.
