As expected, Eloy Room will have more games in goal coming up, but they won’t be for the Columbus Crew. The Black & Gold’s starting goalkeeper will re-up with the Curaçao National Team for the upcoming June World Cup qualifiers across the CONCACAF region. If things go as planned for Curaçao over the new few weeks, Room could play up to four games this break and could miss even more time with his club in 2021.
Room has had an exceptional start to the 2021 season, conceding just five goals in Major League Soccer play and keeping two clean sheets against the Philadelphia Union and CF Montreal to begin the Crew’s campaign. In six starts, Room has also made 14 saves including multiple highlight-worthy stops to keep Columbus in games. The goalkeeper is fresh off a 2020 championship season where he finished third in MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting and won the MLS Save of the Year.

The digital journalists at The Seattle Times ended a decades-long, arbitrary divide within the company last fall by voting to unionize and join our peers in the existing Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild, which already represented more than 100 employees at the paper who are not categorized as “digital” employees.
The official process itself took four months, preceded by more than one year of organizing and several years of conversations among colleagues.

The Columbus Crew opens the 2021 Major League Soccer season this Sunday against the Philadelphia Union but will be missing one of the team’s best players. Midfielder Darlington Nagbe will be out for the first MLS contest of the year with a left hamstring injury he sustained in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 game against Real Esteli.
Nagbe was subbed off in the second half of that April 8 match in Nicaragua and was unavailable for the second leg in Columbus this past Thursday from the nagging hamstring. He is currently listed as “questionable” on the team’s injury report for the Union match but head coach Caleb Porter informed the media on Saturday afternoon that Nagbe will not play on Sunday.
