The poll also found eight out of ten voters still hold the same views on the EU they did in 2016.
Currently the Government is attempting to negotiate a new trade deal with Brussels to replace the Brexit transition period which ends at the close of this year.
However talks remain deadlocked over fishing rights and how far Britain can deviate from the EU’s regulatory “level playing field’.
Speaking to the BBC a Government source said Brussels must make additional concessions if it wants a deal.
The Savanta ComRes poll of 2,006 British adults was conducted between December 16 and 18 online.

However, Nicolas Bay also suggested a willingness on the UK s part to compromise on the issue of fishing rights could pave the way for Brussels to give ground on level playing field arrangements and the role of the European Court of Justice. After a call with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, claimed big differences remain to be bridged in talks to reach a post-Brexit trade deal. Ms von der Leyen warned it will be very challenging to overcome differences, particularly on fishing rights in UK waters. According to a No 10 spokesman, the Prime Minister said a no deal scenario was very likely unless the EU position changed substantially .

Nicolas Bay, general secretary of the right-wing National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen, was speaking in response to plans to task four naval vessels to patrol the English Channel to prevent illegal fishing after the end of the year - which in theory could mean all foreign vessels being barred if no agreement is reached. With less than two weeks before the end of the transition period, uncertainty over post-Brexit access to UK waters still unresolved, and remains a key sticking point for both sides.

Belgian MEP Philippe Lamberts has insisted that the European Parliament should be respected as Brexit negotiations continue despite needing time to be ratified by MEPs. Brussels chief Ursula von der Leyen has said there is a path to an agreement between the UK and European Union on a post-Brexit trade deal but arguments over fishing rights continue. Mrs von der Leyen conceded that the route to an agreement is very narrow and resolution of the difficulties over fishing may prove impossible.
