POLICE are clamping down on offenders causing damage to a site of scientific interest. Officers located and warned an off-road driver who has been illegally using a vehicle at The Fleet lagoon - an area of water between Chesil Beach and the mainland. According to police, the body of water and the surrounding area, which includes Pirates Cove, is a site of Special Scientific Interest (SSI). A Dorset Police spokesman said: Officers are aware of the ongoing issue of vehicles being driven illegally off road at the Fleet Nature Reserve. This is a site of SSI and as such the vehicles are causing soil compaction which is damaging.
New globe sculpture planned for Cleethorpes Prom
It comes on the back of the success of Hammy The Haddock
Updated
A new globe sculpture will be installed on Cleethorpes North Prom
A new recycling sculpture is set to join Hammy the Haddock in helping keep Cleethorpes beach clean and plastic free. Following the success of Hammy the Haddock, the giant plastic bottle recycling sculpture on Cleethorpes Central Promenade, North East Lincolnshire Council has again teamed up with Grimsby-based Blackrow Engineering and several other sponsors to bring a new feature to the resort.
The new sculpture is a 2m tall stainless-steel globe, which like Hammy, will be a giant recycling bin for plastic bottles.
