(Ottawa) Fully vaccinated Canadians are exempt from new facilities exempting U.S. and European travelers from isolation upon arrival in the UK and Scotland on Monday.

The English and Scottish governments announced on Wednesday that fully vaccinated travelers from the United States and Europe would not need 10 days of self-isolation for arrival. These changes will take effect on the night of August 2nd.
Neither government has given reasons to exclude Canada from these relaxations. Meanwhile, the other two countries that make up the UK – Wales and Northern Ireland – have not relaxed existing rules.

Thousands of people who’ve been living and working in Norway were turned away at the border when the government suddenly imposed strict new entry rules earlier this year. The rules have since been eased but now many want compensation for economic losses.

The highly controversial rules were eased after Norway came under pressure from both EU authorities and legal experts. Several lawyers and law professors have charged that the deportations of European citizens violated Norway’s trade deal with the EU, the so-called
Alex Salmond has vowed that Alba Party MSPs will “shake things up”, as he launched its first manifesto.
Set up last month, Alba is contesting list seats across the country in an attempt to see a “supermajority” of MSPs elected who support Scottish independence.
But in a five-minute speech as he unveiled the party’s proposals on Wednesday – after which he did not take questions from journalists or bloggers in his usual way – Mr Salmond insisted Alba is not a “single-issue party”.
