Joint Statement of the Members of the EEA Council

The members of the EEA Council held a video conference on 28 May 2021 at the initiative of Mr Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal. The video conference was attended by Mr Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development Cooperation of Iceland, Ms Ine Eriksen Søreide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway and Ms Dominique Hasler, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein, as well as by representatives of the European Commission and the European External Action Service. Following the videoconference, the members of the EEA Council adopted a joint statement.

EBA Launches Discussion On NPL Data Templates Date 04/05/2021 The EBA is improving its data templates on non-performing loans (NPLs) as a key action in facilitating sales of NPLs and the functioning of the secondary markets for NPLs. The NPL templates are being streamlined to help banks better prepare as part of their NPL management strategies in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst addressing information asymmetries to promote price discovery between buyers and sellers. The revised templates take into account the experience of market participants on the buyer and seller side and this consultation is a critical opportunity to hear from all relevant stakeholders to facilitate the future widespread use of the templates across the single market

Adobe Stock 16 Mar 2021 The much-welcomed renewed interest in the European Research Area (ERA) was concretely kicked off last year with the European Commission Communication on “A new ERA for Research and Innovation”. Under the German Presidency of the Council of the EU, this was followed by Council Conclusions on the New European Research Area, which called for an inclusive governance. However, more than three months later, we still do not know what the ERA governance will look like and, more importantly, how stakeholders will be involved.
