Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) on Wednesday said that its General Secretary Manisha Kapoor has now been appointed to the executive committee of the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS). She will be one of the four vice-presidents to serve on the executive committee of the global body.
Set up by the European Advertising Standards Alliance in 2008, ICAS is a global platform of self-regulatory organizations (SROs).
“Until April this year, ASCI served on the executive committee as a member for a two-year term. Now, Kapoor will play a leadership role on the committee till 2023 and take forward the agenda of self-regulation globally,” ASCI added in a statement.

Health and beauty attracted more complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI) than any other sector last year, generating 308 objections, the industry body said as it published its annual report.
The ASAI, an independent self-regulatory organisation that promotes high standards in marketing, received 1,648 written complaints, down 12.6 per cent on the previous year, with an overall drop in advertising activity during 2020 likely to be responsible.
The complaints that were made related to 1,072 advertisements and this number was up 22 per cent compared to 2019, however.
Age restriction violations on the decline, says ASA Share
The
Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has announced that age restriction violations in UK gambling advertisements have fallen, according to its latest report.
Adverts involving gambling, alcohol, tobacco and other products deemed adult oriented or harmful to children were analysed over a three month period from October to December 2020 using monitoring tools.
Across a sample of 49 websites and 12 YouTube channels, a total of 47 age-restricted advertisements were found to have violated the ASA’s regulations.
A further 21 advertisers placed age-restricted marketing programmes on eight YouTube channels and 23 websites with a predominately underage viewership.
