Europe, for some time, has been facing the wrath of the weather gods, it seems, as it has seen everything from heatwaves to wildfires all at once in a single calendar year, causing epic financial losses as well.
Europe's heatwave is generating very high levels of harmful ozone pollution, the region's atmospheric monitoring service warned Tuesday, adding that large areas of western Europe also face "extreme" danger of wildfires.
Europe Wildfire: For a fifth day, firefighters in Spain were battling Friday to try to bring under control a fire started by a lightning strike in the west-central Las Hurdes area that has consumed about 5,500 hectares (13,600 acres).
