Photo: Google Maps / Street View A petition to save a popular Birkenhead swimming baths from the threat of closure has received more than 1,600 signatures in less than 48 hours. The online campaign was launched after it was revealed that the future of Europa Pools has been thrown into doubt, with Wirral Council looking at ways of recovering a £16m budget deficit largely caused by the fall-out of the coronavirus pandemic. The petition has been set up by Wirral resident Nathan Young, who is a member of Wirral Metro Swimming Club. He said: Europa Pools Leisure Centre in Birkenhead provides much needed leisure services for our local community and beyond.
