10 reasons to visit Gibraltar

10 reasons to visit Gibraltar, the green list getaway with something for everyone From educational sessions with a primatologist to watching concerts in a cave, here s why you should visit this compact peninsula Around 200 Barbary macaques roam Gibraltar Padding through the Saharan sand, pleasantly fatigued by the sea air, I gazed right to the outline of Morocco as a group of swimmers raced for the water. The stresses of the pandemic had slipped away. This was my first time in Gibraltar, but somehow it felt familiar.  I’d arrived that morning, on day one of the resumption of foreign holidays. Beginning with a ride on the cable car for views out over the 1,396ft tall (at its highest point) hulking limestone rock, I’d seen the sweep of the same (man-made) Sandy Bay from far above. The kerfuffle I’d experienced on arrival soon washed away.

Letter #19, 2021, Monday, April 26: Miles of Gibraltar Letter #19, 2021, Monday, April 26: Miles of Gibraltar     “ You will not be like the hired hand, who flees before dangers because he is unconcerned for the flock.” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, in Gibraltar yesterday, where Parolin consecrated as a new archbishop Gibraltar native Mark Miles, 53, during Parolin’s homily at the Mass (on the photo above, Parolin places his hands on Miles’s head at the moment of episcopal consecration)          “Though born and raised at the Pillars of Hercules, beyond which the ancients were forbidden to pass, you yourself have frequently done precisely that in your years of service to the Holy See. We readily entrust you now with even greater responsibility by appointing you to the office of Apostolic Nuncio.”
