WBGZ Radio 2/28/2021 | By Doug Jenkins - WBGZ Radio   Golden Apple, an Illinois nonprofit committed to preparing, honoring, and supporting educators who advance educational opportunities for students, have announced the 2021 finalists for the Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching. 32 Pre-K through 3rd grade finalists were selected from around the state, and two of them teach at schools in Alton. Finalists are Kate Page, a 1 st grade teacher at Eunice Smith Elementary, and Zebulon Holder, who teaches music in grades K-2 at Lovejoy, Eunice Smith, and Lewis and Clark Elementary schools. Alan Mather is the President of Golden Apple. He tells The Big Z they have been around for 36 years.
