On Tuesday, parliament rejected the proposal of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrat party (TS-LKD) to hold a snap election amid the municipal expenses scandal. Some members of the TS-LKD were among those who voted against early elections. Afterwards, coalition parties – TS-LKD, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party – held a meeting and discussed the idea to establish the coalition council.
The ministers led by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė are still in their posts, but President Gitanas Nausėda has already warned in advance: some of them will have to pack their bags anyway. How will the ruling party react to this?
