Polling station at the Slough Ice Arena SUPER Thursday is now over, and some parts of the country have already started counting. So, when will we know the Slough results? Voters across England took to the polls on May 6 to choose local councillors, mayors, and police and crime commissioners. Elections were meant to take place last year but were called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. A by-election also took place in Hartlepool to choose a new MP, which the Conservatives won for the first time since the constituency’s formation in 1974. In Slough, electors voted for candidates in one of 15 wards, except for Colnbrook with Poyle.

Eton town councillors slam proposed "silly" charges at Hayward's Meadow car park

that introducing charges to the villages s free car park will be faced with a lot of opposition. At an Eton Town Council meeting on January 7 (Thursday), councillors unanimously agreed to make representations via a petition to oppose the ruling Conservatives of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s proposal to introduce charges to the free Hayward’s Meadow car park in Eton Wick. As part of the proposed 2021/22 budget, which is subject to public consultation, 12 car parks, including Hayward’s Meadow, are under threat from this. During ward councillor John Bowden’s (Conservative) council update to members, Eton Wick councillor Linda Tarbox warned him the council will face heavy opposition to this plan from many people in the village.

Eton town councillors consider moving out of council building

Eton Town Council ETON Town councillors could have no offices at all as they consider moving out of their current building in order to save “significant” costs. At an Eton Town Council meeting on January 7 (Thursday), members were considering a move out of their offices on the High Street – which costs around £12,000 – to save money during the vote of the 2021/22 budget. Having no offices at all is an option on the table but moving to the cheaper Eton Wick Village Hall is another “viable” choice members are considering – which councillor Peter Lawless called “best use of taxpayers’ money”. No definitive decision has been made as it will have to go to public consultation.
