THE easily scalable and low quality Beitbridge fence was built in 2020 according to specifications by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
The R40 million border fence, erected as part of the COVID-19 emergency procurement last year, was found to have been irregular and the Department of Public Works and the SIU were trying to recover the millions of rands involved in its construction.
A SPECIAl tribunal has reserved judgment in the R40 million Beitbridge border fence case where the SIU wants payment to the two companies that won the now-contested tender to be withheld.
