the oil spill site in the gulf of mexico. orlando salinas live with more on this, what is the latest. reporter: as you were saying the worst of bonnie has passed through the area where we are at right now around miami beach. the wind gusts have started to pick up a little bit. somewhere around 40 to 45 miles per hour. the initial threshold for a category 1 hurricane is 55 miles an hour, so this one had about ten more miles to go before it reached that threshold. but right now forecasters say that is not going to happen. the wind that you re seeing around here, this is the back end of this storm, bonnie, but forecasters say we ve probably seen the worst as far as the rain is concerned. take you to video, shot out of fort lauderdale, south florida part. this part of florida, this entire coastline of florida we sit at sea level h it doesn t take a whole lot for parts of this state to flood. and indeed that s what s happened in some cases.
