Happy Star Wars day! It s hard to top the awesome story from last year. 7-year-old Ethan Sappington celebrated his “May the 4th” with a new robotic arm - just like Luke Skywalker!
When he was 2 years old, Ethan lost parts of all four limbs after contracting sepsis. At 7 - Ethan, defied the odds, despite only being given a five percent chance of survival and became the youngest person in the U.S. to receive a multi-grip bionic arm.
Ethan’s “Hero Arm,” is made by Open Bionics. According to their website, “Each Hero Arm is custom-built using 3D printing and 3D scanning technologies. The prosthesis is robust, and the socket is comfortable, adjustable, and breathable too, which means it’s easy to take on and off while providing you with the best possible fit.”
