New Orleans Public Schools plan to ask the city’s newly seated City Council to rescind a recent resolution challenging its authority over education funding, officials told board members Tuesday.
While many school districts, and in some cases entire states, are moving forward with plans to require the COVID-19 vaccine for students once it has received full federal approval, New Orleans isn’t waiting.
There are more than 3,000 empty public school seats in New Orleans, each one costing the district money it doesn’t have, according to data shared at a special school board meeting Thursday morning.
