Five additional members of the Guam National Guard, from the 254th Security Forces Squadron “Defenders,” departed for Washington, D.C., Monday morning in support of the 2021 Presidential Inauguration.
The airmen, who were sent off by Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, Maj. Gen. (GU) Esther Aguigui and the Guam Guard s command team, will link up with the 30 Guam National Guard members already on the ground in the nation s capital, according to an announcement from the National Guard.
On Sunday, a platoon-sized element of approximately 30 soldiers from Guam left to join National Guard soldiers and airmen from all 54 states and territories. The group is set to perform security functions in and around the Capitol over the coming days.
